I have worked with Dan Wann and the others on getting this Crossroads Cafe
program off the ground in Indianapolis. We have been running the program in
Indy for about 4/5 months. We haven't done an in-depth study yet as to how
often books are being circulated, but it seems that it is slowly growing.
One of the great things about this project is that the shows are being aired
on a consistent schedule AND are being aired a lot of times during the week.
More and more people continue to discover this great series.

I also think that the wrap around segment that is produced locally adds a
great deal to the quality of the program. Mary, the Indianapolis Public
Schools teacher that leads the group, is wonderful. Her efforts in leading
the class make it easy for someone to follow along at home. But, I think
she also inspires them to call and seek more help.

I am a big fan of Crossroads. I have found myself watching it just for the
entertainment value. This is also a great program with which to build
collaborations among organizations within a community, as has happened in
Indianapolis.

Dan, thank you for the news from another part of the country! I'd sure
be
interested to know more about the wrap-around segments. Our libraries
also
have plenty of Crossroads material available to patrons, both the tapes
and
the printed matter.

How long has the program been running in Indianapolis?
