I'm the ESL coordinator at Laubach Literacy Action. I work with volunteers-based programs around the country who are teaching basic literacy and ESL. We receive all kinds of communications with alternate spellings of our name - first time for this one - probably a slip of the finger on the keyboard. I'm not aware of just what this local conference is actually offering, but a couple of years ago Laubach and New Readers Press developed a set of training materials (print leader notes, overhead masters, participant text and 10 videos) called "Training by Design." One of the segments is Total Physical Repsonse. If you would like more information on what this segment contains please feel free to contact me. __________ Tom Mueller, ESL Coordinator Laubach Literacy Action 1320 Jamesville, Ave. Syracuse, NY 13210 (315) 422-9121 ext. 351 tmueller@laubach.org -----Original Message----- From: Cindi Riley [mailto:lvl@hargray.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2001 9:48 AM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: [NIFL-ESL:5420] "Lovach" method I received a course schedule from a local conference and training center. They are offering 7 ESL sessions for $50, using what they call the "Lovach and Total Physical Response Method." Of course, I am familiar with TPR, but I have never heard of Lovach. I did an ERIC search and came up with nothing. Anyone heard of this method? I wondered if they meant Laubach. Any help would be appreciated. -- ************************************ Cindi Riley Assistant Director Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry 608 Bladen St. Beaufort, SC 29902 Phone 843-525-6658 Fax 843-521-1945 lvl@hargray.com
