Civics Activities on the Web!

Okay, you know that you have to integrate Civics content with English
language skills development. You've read NCLE's Q & A on Civics
Education for Adult English Language Learners
http://www.cal.org/ncle/DIGESTS/civics.htm. You understand the
background information and you have a few ideas on what you might do
with your learners, but you need more. You'd like some very specific
information on activities you can do tomorrow in class. Better yet, you
would like some ideas to use that would be relevant this month,
African-American History Month.

What do you do?

Try this:

1.	Read NCLE's FAQ # 13 http://www.cal.org/ncle/faqs.htm#Thirteen
and find out generally how to integrate language development with Civics
content.

2.	From there, link to http://www.cal.org/ncle/civics/ for specific
activities. For activities that Use Music go to
http://www.cal.org/ncle/civics/music.htm For activities for
African-American History Month, check out
http://www.cal.org/ncle/civics/AAmon.htm

3.	After you have read and downloaded these collections as
appropriate, it would be great if you would tell us what you think about
them specifically and the NCLE Website in general. Please take a moment
to fill in the NCLE Comment Card, which is also new on our Website. Its
address is http://www.cal.org/ncle/comments/

4.	Periodically check the NCLE homepage http://www.cal.org/ncle/
to see if we have updated and added new collections to the Civics
Resources Compilation. In the works: Using project-based learning with
Civics content.
