I am very interested in the reaction from teachers and specialists (speech and language,
psychologists, reading teachers etc...) regarding the mandate for inclusion of esl students in
regular education classes. Does anyone know of research based practice? Has there been
some experience that can be generated into practice? The Canadian experience is an interesting one
but the language backgrounds of the youngsters is very different than any large city (and many
smaller ones) we encounter in this country.

I worry less about the younger child ... it is at upper elementary and middle school where the
problems (more reading and writing, less teacher input) persist I'd be grateful for responses.
