NIFL-ESL Colleagues,

Regarding what the expectations are for the NIFL-ESL electronic list:

According to the NIFL-ESL Welcome message which one receives after
subscribing, NIFL-ESL is "one of 11 discussion lists set up by the
National Institute for Literacy. Since March 1995, the English as a
Second Language (ESL) Discussion List has provided a forum for those
teaching English language literacy to adults."

Perhaps it would be useful for Lynda Terrill, the new NIFL-ESL list
moderator, to post the NIFL-ESL list guidelines so everyone can see the
purposes, expectations and "netiquette."

Specifically:

1. Is the focus of the list adult and family ESL/ESOL (not k-12) ?

2. What are the expectations about critiquing/complaining about/railing
against a specific school or program? (On the national electronic list
which I moderate this is not permitted because not everyone has access
to a range of information and points of view about a particular local
program, those responsible for that program are not always subscribers
to the list and, a national/international electronic list is not the
place to address local problem, regardless of how serious they may be.
