Our learners love it. I have had several who have bought their own copy to use at home. It is about $75 and available from http://www.spencerlearning.com/. They are very nice people to work with. When I had a CD-ROM that got damaged, they replaced it for $12. ******************** Cindi Riley Assistant Director Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry 1403 Prince St. Beaufort, SC 29902 phone 843-525-6658 fax 843-521-1945 criley@lowcountryliteracy.org -----Original Message----- From: nifl-esl@nifl.gov [mailto:nifl-esl@nifl.gov]On Behalf Of Antje Meissner Sent: Tuesday, September 24, 2002 10:11 AM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: [NIFL-ESL:8045] Re: literacy software Hello We are using "Ultimate Phonics" in our program with native speakers and non-native speakers. Especially Spanish speakers like it, beacuse they understand for the first time the differences in vowel sounds. It is very easy to use. Students come in and use it on their own, but they prefer using it with their tutor.I think it costs around $100, we bought it from the LVA Catalog.Unfortunately there are no practice exercises, just explanations. Some of the other basic reading sofware we have doesn't work as well with ESL students, because they don't understand the vocabulary.
