In this area, community ed ESL refers to survival English, whereas adult ed ESL focuses on a more advanced level of language use that helps students obtain employment in their own or other fields.

I've often used adult ed ESL and community ed ESL as synonyms but with my
move to Michigan I've begun to realize that in some places these are viewed
as two different entities. I was wondering if those of you on this list
could clarify for me how the two differ, or are the same, at least in your
area. Thanks.
