Just a caution about NYSPLACE.  Many ESL educators in New York State do not like the NYSPLACE when used as an assessment instrument.  NYS Ed. Dept will be discontinuing its use for the NRS as a result of the latest Federal review(problems with validity). A workgroup is looking at possible repacements but has just begun its work.
