The state staff development committee for ABE hires a special presenter for adult ESL, and the whole thing is just awash with interesting cultural experiences. It is sponsored by the Iowa Dept. of Ed, the Bureau of Refugee Services, the Area Education Agency, and some others, it is really wonderful. I have been going for years, and find it one of the high points! Speakers are excellent, cultural experiences are, too. And the teachers love it, they go home with lots of new ideas for the adult ESL classroom. And the registration cost is $95!
