This person will plan and implement professional development opportunities for adult education and literacy teachers, tutors and program managers. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: VA Adult Learning Resource Center Vacant Position: Staff Development Coordinator/Instructor Position Number: F1248 Position Description: Plan and implement professional development opportunities for adult education and literacy teachers, tutors and program managers. Conduct needs assessments, develop training curricula, facilitate groups, and provide leadership to a team of new teacher trainers and other training consultants. Develop training materials for Web-based and other distance learning technologies. Write correspondence, reports, newsletter articles, and other documents. Work collaboratively with other staff members. Qualifications: MA in Adult Education or closely allied field. Candidates must have a strong knowledge of current issues, theory and practice in general Adult Education and in Adult Literacy and professional development in particular. The position requires recent professional development hands-on experience with adults of limited basic educational skills; experience facilitating groups and designing and delivering professional development opportunities; understanding of basic program planning processes including needs assessment, instructional design and evaluation. Excellent writing skills and computer literacy are essential; knowledge of distance learning technologies and Internet applications is preferred. Prefer a candidate with experience in inquiry-based professional development. Full-time position with benefits. Occasional overnight travel required.
