One very nice free online resource which is handy for busy teachers is the
Fairfax County (VA) Family Literacy Curriculum, created by Betsy Wong, at
http://www.aelweb.vcu.edu/publications/famlitcurric/ . This multi-level,
learner-centered curriculum contains complete, teacher-friendly lesson plans
with plenty of reproducible handouts. It gives special attention to
beginners and low-literacy learners, and is definitely useful beyond family
literacy-specific settings. Unit topics include "Self, Family, and
Community;" "Schools and Community;" "Health: Medicine and Stress," and
"Shopping and Making a Budget."

I'm guessing there are more free, ready-to-use ESL materials popping up on
the Web these days. Can anyone recommend any others?
