TESOL seems to like cutesy titles for their presentations. Things like:

The beatles, "Let it be" and verb conjugation

Loonie toons and other cartoons to teach adjectives

Rock and roll and modal auxiliaries.

The are not too interested in ideologcal stuff such as poverty, access, gender issues, etc. A few years ago I was thinking of submitting several proposals with cute titles and bogus content to see if they got accepted. I am kind of lazy though.

Only 4 days til TESOL 2005's proposal deadline!
TESOL-- the professional organization of teachers of English to speakers
of other languages--sponsors the largest annual conference in our field.
Thousands of teachers from all over the world attend.

Now is your chance to propose a poster session, paper, a workshop, a
demonstration or a colloquium! Take a little time for your career. Dream
big! Get some others to go along or do it yourself. The deadline for
submitting proposals for the 2005 TESOL Convention is May 1, 2004 (May 3
for proposals submitted online). Get the call for proposals at
http://www.tesol.org/tesol2005/cfp.html Apply online at
http://www.tesol.org/tesol2005/)

How It Works: Adult education needs proper representation next year!
Please make sure you choose the Adult Education interest section to
referee your proposal. The number of adult ed ESL presentations on the
TESOL program is directly related to the number of proposals received
that indicate the Adult Education interest section.

Please share this information with all others who might be interested in
presenting at next year's TESOL conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Thanks!

p.s. Go ahead and propose something! You have almost a year to figure
out how to get to San Antonio!

p.s.s. If you are not already a member of the Adult Education Interest
Section and you would like to become one, here's how
http://www.tesol.org/isaffil/intsec/index.html. You do NOT need to be a
member of either TESOL or the interest section to submit a proposal.
