 Lynne and all,

the only problem I can think of with scanning them would be that they would be inaccessible as texts to people with visual impairments.  In a less imperfect world, a scan/PDF *and* a word doc (so people could at least read the words, if not view the images) would be a good solution.  That, of course, and the requisite time to retype the texts.
