Dear ESL friends,
I have just posted a ready-to-use reading activity, "After Katrina,
Mexico helps U.S." on our website, at www.handsonenglish.com/
currentevents.html It is free and available for you to use in your classroom.
The reading tells the story of the Mexican relief convoy that came to
San Antonio September 8th. I think that your students will be interested
in the story, and particularly students with Mexican heritage can be
proud of this event.
There are several suggested activities--some discussion, map work,
math, job topics, writing and vocabulary expansion. I have also prepared
a multi-level dictation at 5 levels using the text of this reading.
Please help yourself and let me know how you liked it. Also I'd love
to hear any feedback/comments your students might have.
