========================================================================
I just wanted to let everyone know about a great organization, the
American Poetry & Literacy Project, that provides books free of charge
to libraries (including schools), prisons, homeless shelters,
hospitals, etc.
The American Poetry and Literacy Project is a national volunteer
effort that promotes literacy and encourages people to read poetry
more often. They are able to donate free books (mostly of poetry and
multicultural themes) thanks to the support of the general public,
Book-of-the-Month Club, and Dover Publications.
To let them know of book needs in your community, please write to the
following:
APL Project
1058 Thomas Jefferson St., NW
Washington, DC 20007
(They also accept tax-deductible donations -- of which every dollar
pays for books.)
Please let organizations in your community that want or need good
books of poetry know of this opportunity.
Thanks!
