In Texas, to my knowledge, one of the three programs ending year 8 in 96-97 was continued locally. That program is in Sequin, Texas. It is also my understanding that they did such through a variety of funding sources, one of them being Americorp. At this time, it is the intent of our school district to continue the existing family literacy program that is finishing year 8 in 97-98. We are planning on a combination of local funds, Title 1 funds, Adult Basic Education funds, and a variety of smaller funding sources. We are also planning to reapply for a new program with a new CBO and a new range of services. This would allow to sustain our already strong base, but expand and reach new clientele.
