I've just subscribed to the list and want to introduce myself and pose a
question. I work at a state professional development adult education
resource center and often get questions about family literacy. One
practitioner called today with a question about a program she hopes to
begin. She works at an elementary school and a couple nights a week there
is a family literacy class for families of kindergarten and first graders.
She is looking to expand the program to include families who are not
interested in the family literacy class, but would benefit from having a
"Homework Club" one night a week. The Club would be a place for parents to
help their children with homework and receive some support from the staff
and other families.

Are any of you attempting something similar? What approach do you take? Do
you have any words of wisdom to offer?

You may respond directly to me or to the list.
Thank you.
