Chutney,
I coordinate an Even Start program that is located in an elementary school.
The school helps refer parents, but we also publicize all over the city and
some in the county via flyers posted in stores, laundrymats, video stores,
community agencies, the Rock County Job Center, the public libraries and at
Blackhawk Technical College where we office. We write press releases and
letters to community agencies such as the health department and human
services, our welfare to work agency, Head Start, YWCA and the local
literacy council. We put short articles about our classes in newsletters
for the school parents, the local childcare resource and referral agency and
Title 1 parents. We write letters and send flyers to local businesses,
mostly fast food places. We have worked with the local free newspaper to
have feature articles printed. We do this at least once per semester.

Janesville Even Start Family Literacy Program
