I am a CBET teacher in San Diego. CBET stands for Community Based English Tutoring. It's similar to family literacy. I have a family emergency and have been nominated family care giver.(I'm the 'spinster') My mother is in critical condition and my father needs help too. I plan to leave San Diego by the end of the month (January). I have to sell my condo...and find a job in or near Hendersonville North Carolina. I have a BA and teaching credential in secondary English from Michigan. It transferred to California, but I had to take the CLAD and the CBEST. Now I have to take the Praxis to renew my CA credential. (It lapsed in November and I didn't bother to renew - thinking that I hadn't used it so far and now I don't have time to renew!) I also have a MA in teaching languages (a euphemism for MATESOL) Now I'm heading to a new state, no network, and care taking my parents. If anyone any suggestions on how to procede with a job search - CC, family lit, ESL, public school, private, charter, anything! Please help! Thanks for your time and energy!
