There are terrific suggestions for ways to involve students in an essay contest, a Favorite Books Survey for students to take and much, much more. Don't let a child in your community's schools be without a caring adult with whom to read on this special day. March 16: Join us at Rutgers State University for a conference on "Tutoring Program for Struggling Readers." Whether you are just beginning a tutoring program or would like to enhance your existing program, plan to join us at the 15th Annual Rutgers Invitational Symposium on Education (RISE) co-sponsored by the Rutgers Graduate School of Education and the U. S. Department of Education America Reads Challenge. Presenters include reading and tutoring specialists; Jean Marzollo, author of the I Spy children's books; and Mary Beth Blegen, the U. S. Dept. of Education 1996 National Teacher of the Year. There will be an opportunity the evening before the conference and after the closing session to visit with personnel from the U. S. Dept. of Education regarding the Federal Work-Study tutoring program. Participation is limited to 250.
