Do any of you have difficulties competing with work schedules and overtime offers in particular when you schedule PACT time in your Family Literacy programs?

Our ESOL classes meet three mornings per week (or two evenings) and the PACT time is supposed to take place on the early release Wednesdays after the Wednesday class (or on a third evening every other week). Very often, parents run off to work even though PACT events have gotten rave reviews by those who do attend.

The Head Start teachers and the school principal are against releasing the morning kids to do PACT activities within the regularly scheduled ESOL classes, and our Head Start partner is firm on wanting the PACT time to be in addition to ESOL class time.

The program is pinched and clearly so are the parents.

Any great ideas?

Thanks,
