Perhaps this could be sent in a letter to Nancy alone, but I would like to
speak to the list as a whole--I'm sure that many folks out there share my
thoughts.

This listserv has been **extremely useful** to me and my colleagues in the
community-based adult and family literacy programs in which we work. We have
learned so much--from policy matters to nitty-gritty, day-to-day ideas for
parent-child activities. We have attended conferences that we learned of
solely through the listserv. We have visited suggested websites that yielded
information or articles of interest to the adults enrolled in our programs.
We have received suggestions from other providers on parent-education
curriculum and resources that helped us develop our own curriculum. We have
learned about legislation that affects our funding (and know that we need to
play a more active role ourselves in promoting family literacy on a policy
level). We have... We have... We have... fill in the blank with many more
benefits!

Suffice it to say that the listserv has become an important resource for
staff development in our programs, and, furthermore, it gives us a sense of
community with the wide variety of family-literacy program providers across
the continent and even over the ocean!

My sincerest thanks for providing this wonderful resource,

Betsy Rubin
