This appears to be an outstanding software product at a very reasonable cost. The website provides much evidence that this software marries the best in educational software design with content based on very solid research in reading and writing instruction. The software was developed with NICHD funding. So I am wondering have any of you used this software in family literacy programs? How do your families respond? Do any of you have strategies for providing computers to Even Start families for home use? I coordinate a rural Even Start program and am looking for ways to increase intensity of instruction. One thought I had was to create an award program where a family earned the use of a computer at home through completing a certain number of hours of instruction, or certain groups or classes. I'm thinking of providing second hand computers to the families that "earn" them--computers that they can keep. Judith Lashof Rutland Region Even Start Coordinator RCSU/257 S.
