Parent Time offers parents the opportunity to come together to learn about their children’s emerging literacy and development skills, and to discover new resources available to their families. Adult Education supports a parent’s varied life responsibilities through an active, engaging curriculum guided by their vocational goals, culture and family traditions. Children’s Education promotes the literacy development and learning of children in an environment that engages parents as their child’s first advocate and teacher. These four elements are included in the federal definition of family literacy services found in the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (Title II of the Workforce Investment Act), the Reading Excellence Act, the Community Services Block Grant Act, the Head Start Act and Even Start (Title I, Part B, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act).
