Center and ZERO TO THREE: National Center for Infants, Toddlers and
Families have developed a special issue of the journal Zero to Three
on the nutrition of very young children and its links to development
and health. The many articles voice an eloquent consensus concerning
the vital importance of adequate nutrition (including the strong
desirability of breastfeeding) for the optimum growth and overall
development of young children and their future health as adults.
Cost of the issue is $10.

ACCESS TO THE FOOD STAMP PROGRAM: Testimony by James C. Ohls from
Mathematica notes that at any given time, only 59% of those who were
eligible participated in 1998 and this number has been declining
since the passage of welfare reform legislation in 1996. The most
common reason is that people think they are not eligible.
