Discussion on this list has been very quiet for the past month. I imagine
part of the reason it is so quiet is because a lot of the subscribers are on
summer break. What about the rest of you?
So, here is a way to get a conversation going. Everyone is really
concentrating on improving children's reading skills these days. What are
some ideas, strategies, tips, suggestions for parents to use during the
holiday
season to encourage reading? ("holiday season" can mean summer holidays,
Thanksgiving, winter holidays, etc) What children's books are particularly
useful in talking about the various celebrations during the holiday period?
How do you capitalize on the extra time together during the holidays and use
that time to focus on parents and children reading together?
Share your ideas with us on the list. These tips can come in handy as we
plan for the beginning of lesson plans for next school year.
