While I am torn about sharing personal information in such a public forum, I realize that many of us on this list care for David and would want to send our support. This week David lost his son Jeffrey in a car crash. A message from Maria Elena Gonzales from the Adult Literacy Resource Institute staff is pasted in below, with information about where to send condolences. >From Maria Elena: Dear colleagues, Just fifteen minutes ago I learned the unbelievably sad news that David Rosen's only son, Jeffrey, has died in a head-on collision in Arizona. I can't think of a more horrible thing to happen to a parent and I am shocked and extremely saddened for David. He is going to need our understanding and support and dare I say, love, for some of us who have known and worked with him through the years have grown to care for him deeply. We are in mourning. Jeffrey was a very young man, perhaps just 20 years old. He was a talented, brilliant young man, a senior at NYU - this past year he had taken a year off to work as an intern for NPR in Washington D.C. He was musical and interested in the arts - I remember when he was ten years old and was convinced he was going to be a cartoon artist. Some of you knew him even younger and probably have other stories to tell. If you want to send personal messages to David and his wife Rita, their address is: 7 Newsome Park, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
