"Toward a New Pluralism in ABE/ESOL Classrooms: Teaching to Multiple 'Cultures of Mind'" provides a summary of the research conducted by Robert Kegan and his research team at Harvard (the full report will be available later but is quite long). This research applied Dr. Kegan's theory of adult development to participants in ABE and ESOL classes. I believe this report will provide adult educators with a new lens with which to look at their students, understand why students sometimes prefer teaching approaches different than those we employ, see the value of group learning, and understand the transformation adults make in our programs.
