Hello,

I'm writing to invite everyone to join us at the 36th Annual California
Literacy Conference from October 25-27 in Anaheim, California. This year's
Conference theme is "Moving Literacy to the Mainstream," a conscious
reflection of the NLSI. Dr. Andrew Hartman, Director of the National
Institute for Literacy, will be the keynote speaker on Thursday, October
25.

A key part of the Conference is the Literacy Forum. Hartman will be joined
by a distinguished panel of literacy leaders to discuss the state of the
field in California and nationally. The following panelists are confirmed
attendees:

Dr. Andrew Hartman, Director, National Institute For Literacy
Brigitte Marshall, CA Department of Education
Peter Waite, Executive Director, Laubach Literacy Action
Ardis Breslauer, CASAS
Yvette Page, Superintendent of Correctional Education, CA Department of
Corrections
Nancy Edmunds, GED Office, CA Department of Education
Cindy Costales, California State Library Literacy
Lisa Bennett-Garrison, Executive Director, California Literacy

The Literacy Forum is a question-and-answer session with these panelists,
and is an excellent opportunity to ask questions of some of the leading
decision makers in the field. The Literacy Forum occurs from
10:15am--11:45am on Thursday, October 25.

For more information about the Literacy Forum and the Conference, please
visit www.caliteracy.org or call 626-395-9989.

Peace,
Matthew Scelza
