The New England Literacy Resource Center has just published another issue
of The Change Agent. This issue, Focus on Economic Security and Justice
features articles on The Myth of the Good Economy, Flunking Work First,
Who's Really on Welfare, Freedom Bus, Organizing for Education and Training,
Globalization: Who Profits?, Reparations are Long Overdue, How Poor is
Poor?, Gender and Racial Income Inequality, and Teaching Strategies Of
Exploring Home Ownership.
The mission of the Change Agent is to provide, in the form of a low cost
newspaper, news, issues, ideas, and other teaching resources that inspire
and enable adult educators and learners to make civic participation and
social justice concerns part of their teaching and learning. The editorial
board for the current issue stated that "The foundational value that
underlies our critique is that until the poorest in our society are treated
with dignity and accepted as more important than corporate profits, there is
no economic justice, let alone security".
