There's a new National Coalition for Literacy handout available on the NCL
web site. It summarizes the NCL's top three recommendations. It's a single
page on NCL letterhead in Adobe Acrobat format. Feel free to make copies for
your visits with Federal legislators and/or to include in correspondence
with them.

"Way to go!" to those of you who have made contact with your Senators and
Congressperson already. If you haven't done so already, it's not too late -
contact them this week.

Congress needs to hear from lots of literacy supporters. On NPR yesterday, I
heard there is speculation that President Bush may replace Education with
the Economy as his #1 priority. This would make our job tougher.

Translation: we need the voice of every literacy advocate to be heard!

To view and print out the NCL handout, go to www.natcoalitionliteracy.org
and click on "Policy and Legislation." Then click the link under Commitment
1 to the "Federal Literacy Appropriations" page.
