Oregon Family Literacy curriculum

Re: the questions of choosing ONE curriculum. In 7 years of working in =
family literacy, I have never seen anyone who has successfully purchased =
a ready-made, packaged curriculum and then adopted it into the program =
and been successful. Maybe they're out there, but I'm skeptical.

The beauty and the difficulty of family literacy is the way that parts =
of the curriculum emerge. This might be a new skill, that this =
particular group wants to learn, or it could be a new context.=20

In Oregon, a group of instructors worked with this challenge last year =
and developed a curriculum framework, using Equipped for the Future and =
CASAS and what the learners say they want. The result was the above =
curriculum framework. You can copy it for free for your own use. Again, =
it is a framework. There are about 8 lessons as examples and we hope to =
add more.

Several of the teachers who helped develop this are on this listserv.

ALSO... a hint:
Please think about whether you want to send the message to the ENTIRE =
list or just to the message's sender.

Cathy Lindsley
Oregon
