It might just be the case that individuals don't know how to reply just to the sender. In Outlook Express, hitting "Reply" will send the mail to the list. One must hit "New", then manually enter the sender's address in order to post to the individual only. There is documentation in the "Help" section of Outlook which explains this process. While I am not technically savvy, I do participate in a number of lists, and this is a fairly common problem more related to a limited understanding of how e-mail applications and list-serves work rather than an individual disregard for net etiquette.
