We use "virtual communities" for each of our programs using
www.communityzero.com. There is a free version. It's secure because the
students need to be invited to join it, and it's administered by one of our
staff. Students and staff can chat, post photographs, recipes, events,
assignments, even online discussions and file sharing. I'm sure we could
post a field trip safely, and have, if memory serves me
