I just saw the mother of one of my students at the post office--she said I
hadn't changed (!). I had parents floating in and out of my class all year.
Once I was "studied" by a person getting their master's degree. She wanted
to know if I wanted to read her paper, I said "No, you wouldn't get it
right." Arrogant or accurate? I don't know. Every year I got close to
certain parents, don't know how that happened. A friend of mine lost her
husband recently, she used to be a schoolteacher so now she volunteers 4 days
a week at a neighborhood school, from what she has said, and knowing her, I
am SURE teachers love having her there to give a little extra help to the
kids who need it. She looks like everyone's grandmother.
