The writing tool we used is holistic scoring training done by our State
writing examiner. She is the same person who works with the GED test
readers.

Subject: [NIFL-FAMILY:1081] Writing Assessment
The New York State Even Start Performance Indicator workgroup is developing
an indicator to assess adult writing. We would appreciate your input on:
a. What writing assessment instruments does your program currently use?
(Please indicate if these instruments are standardized or alternative.)
b. What the advantages and disadvantages of those instruments?
Please submit any information to Scott Jill at sjill@hudrivctr.org.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Scott Jill
