Matt

I didn't attend the plantation tour. But personally, putting our heads in
the sand and pretending that plantation life did not exist in this fine
country, makes no sense to me. We need to grow up in the country and
realize we are not angels. We, as individuals and as a Nation have made
mistakes. We need to figure out what, if anything, we learned from those
mistakes and change our actions/behavior accordingly. We need to get our
sanity act together pretty fast here, as bad decisions have a global impact.

To whom it may concern-
I am a 2nd year student at Franklin and Marshall College, in Lancaster
PA. I am currently enrolled in a class entitled, "America in Black and
White" For our final project, we are allowed to choose a subject related in
anyway to our class and present it. There are very few guidlines. A few
years ago, I was in South Carolina, and i visited the Boone Hall Plantation,
and i thought I might do a project on it for this class. However, i was
doing some research on the internet, and I came across the letter you wrote
regarding the plantation tour description. I read all the emails sent and i
completely agree. I felt the same way as i was given the tour. I couldnt
help thinking and knowing that there was so much they were not telling us.
This is what I've chosen to do my report on. I was wondering if you have
any information or contacts that could be usefull to me. I was unable to
find much significat historical information on the plantation. All i could
find were facts relating to media and tourism. I know I'm asking you to go
out of your way, but I am really disturbed by the image of this plantation
that is being projected, and I believe its just one example of our country
covering up issues that need to be faced if we are to adress reacial
problems in our country today. I would greatly appreciate at least a
response to this email- thank you very much for your time. -Matthew
Marietti. My email is matthew.marietti@fandm.edu thanks again everyone for
your time
