We have used Multiple Intelligences in staff development and in Family Literacy classes. These classes include ESL and ABE/GED students. It was very well received and made it easy to show parents how they can approach learning activities more successfully with their children. I am anxious to share this new site with the teachers. Sponsored by Literacyworks (the Western/Pacific LINCS Regional Technology Center of the National Institute for Literacy) this site provides "innovative ways to help adult literacy instructors and students discover and tap into their unique and natural processes to ensure success in teaching and learning." The site's approach is based on Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences, or the idea that people possess many different types of intelligences instead of only one type. (The site's address is http://literacyworks.org/mi/home.html should you wish to visit it.) As someone new to the world of adult literacy programming, I'm quite interested in the connection between adult learners and multiple intelligence theory. If you have used any multiple intelligence assessments and/or classroom activities with adult learners, I would enjoy hearing about your experiences. Would anyone be willing to share his or her successes and/or challenges with me? Thank you! Jenna Nemec
