Our program continues with most classes during the summer. Some classes are closed for the summer and Family Literacy has shorter hours. We close the entire program for two weeks at the end of June/beginning of July and again for two weeks at the end of August. If we close longer than 2 weeks we lose students, so the two short breaks and closing some of the classes is financially the same as closing all classes for 6 weeks. Elizabeth B. Here in Oregon we did a survey of different ways that programs do summer activities, and came up with a list of various options, many of which were quite creative. I'd like to hear from other programs here on the list about what you do during the summer. If you like, I think it would be okay to share the list generated by our coordinators as well. ------- Sylvan Rainwater mailto:sylvan@cccchs.org Program Manager Family Literacy Clackamas Co.
