Dear all,

This from Jan Greenberg, who was unable to respond directly to this list:

Scientifically-based reading research gives us important information
about what programs/strategies might work with particular populations
and particular circumstances and conditions, but it's only half the
story. Well-done qualitative research provides information and
insights on why and how a particular program/practice might work.
Limiting research resources to only scientifically-based research
limits our potential to have a bigger, more complete picture about a
very complex process.

Thanks for the interesting question!
Jan
