Alecia
Cleveland Reads has designed a program called Book Kits for Kids.
Originally
designed as tools for reading tutors of primary school students to turn
at-risk readers into accomplished ones, they became an effective
resource
for parents as well and would be great for PACT time. The program,
which
was piloted in a variety of settings for over three years, combines fine
literature with basic skills activities. Parents will expose their kids
to
classics like The Story of Ferdinand and Bringing the Rain to Kapiti
Plain
and still review skills such as phonics and vocabulary with activities
created from the books. Best of all, the kids see reading as a pleasure,
not
a task.

We are in the process of streamlining the kits for easier use and
creating a
CD; however, I can mail you our brochure if you are interested.
Regards,
Catherine Thomas

Hello,
I'm looking for lesson plans designed for PACT, Parent-Time or Adult
Education components of family literacy programs. I'd like to find
lessons
for parents that address issues of advocacy and lessons for PACT time
that
are designed for children age 5 or older.

Any links or ideas you can provide would be a great help.
Thank you
