Public Relations Specialist Responsibilities include developing and organizing a Communications Action Center that includes generating proactive media relations and securing targeted media coverage; authoring press releases; writing and designing persuasive and error-free organizational communications such as special newsletters; enhancing the organization's measurable name recognition; executing publicity efforts with national funders; collaborating with development and project-based staff; organizing and analyzing organizational information and data in order to communicate it to stakeholders. Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business or Liberal Arts. Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience preferably in nonprofit communications and/or fundraising. Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to make clear and effective presentations. Ability to build effective relationships with media, funders, and corporate contacts. Experience in all phases of production of communication tools such as news release, press kits, and brochures, newsletters, briefing materials; web site material and PowerPoint presentations. Experience in journalism or professional writing a plus. Independent judgment and the ability to work with limited supervision are necessary. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and under pressure when necessary. Other: Some travel is involved and candidate must be willing to relocate to the Louisville, Kentucky area.
