Hi All:

This year the first federally recognized "Constitution Day" (September 17th) will be celebrated on Friday, September 16. As the Iraqis try to reach agreement on their Constitution, it is timely to recall that the American Constitution was also a fiercely contested document. And...with the Senate soon to debate the nomination of John Roberts to the Supreme Court, it's also timely to examine how the concept of "constitutional judicial review" - that hot-button power of the U.S. Supreme Court - originated.

With links to the original Constitution and other materials (including the relevant "Federalist Papers" and much more), everything you need to develop a "Constitution Day" lesson plan is available, in one place, at AwesomeStories. Here is the link: http://www.awesomestories.com/famous_trials/marbury_madison/marbury_madison_ch1.htm Free access to the entire site, with its hundreds of history-based stories and thousands of in-context, primary-source links, is available for all educators, schools and libraries. You just have to sign-up for ACADEMIC MEMBERSHIP at the main URL: http://www.awesomestories.com/
