These are the same tips that people get when they subscribe. Please review these, and let's continue with our thought-provoking discussion of health and literacy. Netiquette Tips * When you participate in a discussion, please introduce yourself. * Include your name, e-mail address, and your program or affiliation at the end of each message. This will allow others to better respond to your message. * Be concise. Messages more than two screens in length are difficult for some participants to read. Shorter, to the point messages move the discussion along at a lively pace. * Before you send a reply, consider if it should go to everyone or just to the person whose message you are replying to. If you think it will be of general interest, then send it to the discussion group; if not, be careful to reply only to the message originator. * Many of us have found that learning is promoted by dialogue in a spirit of inquiry, curiosity, and mutual respect. Please conduct your discussions in that spirit. * If you wish to communicate privately with a subscriber, be sure to reply to that person's e-mail address, not to the discussion group address. * When replying to a posted message, quote the part of the message (usually not the whole message) that you are replying to. Readers can then respond to your message in the proper context. * Don't type e-mail messages in all capital letters. It is considered to be shouting. * Be cautious in using sarcasm on the Internet. Comments made in jest may not always appear that way to other readers. Sarcastic or ironic messages can be marked with emotions, for example a typed grin [i.e. <g> or <grin>] or with a sideways smiley. [i.e. :) or :-)] * To subscriber, or unsubscribe to NIFL-Health, go to www.nifl.gov, then "discussions," then "health," and follow the directions.
