Helen
Just wanted to share with you a little bit I learned in the area of the indivuduals who are blind using computers.

In my prior position I was working with a blind MR adult with CP who wanted to us computers...

We had an interesting meeting (first time around here) when I was able to arrange for the assistive technology person from UCP and the assistive technology person from the Association for the Blind. Both have different forms of software and it provend to be an interesting combination of resources which reallly benefited our consumer. The Association for the Blind was able to use 1:1 instruction using the Dragonlink software (this woman had only limited Braille skills due to her CP and MR conditions) which is voice-activated with specialized software in the form of adaptive mouse which has actually worked for over 3 years to allow her the ability to use computers.

Just wanted to share that story...it was a good opportunity to link community resources which had previously never spoken to each other.

Currently getting ready to begin preparing a workshop for our statewide PA Mental Health Consumers Association on the basic of talking with medical professionals. They have also asked our director and myself to do a workshop on Treatment Plans-Making them Real-which should be interesting.

Happy St Patricks Day
Kathyann
