Dear NIFL recipients,

Many years ago I used a wonderful resource call "The Living Word" by the
publisher Childcraft. This large book listed a dictionary's worth of words
and noted what percentage of children at what grade levels understood the
word's meaning. The book would also refer the reader to simpler, more
commonly understood synonyms.

When I spoke to Childcraft, they told me the book was out of print and they
had no plans to update or reprint. They were not interested in being
helpful and I could not get any information as to what similar resources
might be available.

This would be a wonderful resource when writing for any population. Does
anyone know of anything comparable?

Regards,

Pamela Wild, M.Ed.
