Hi Ellen,

This refers to your request for an assessment tool for clear communication...

We are the Plain Language Service (PLS), one leg of the National
Literacy & Health Program, in the Canadian Public Health Association
located in Ottawa. (The National Literacy Secretariat is not us.)
Kathy Bose is the Manager of the PLS.

Our Health Resource Centre does have, among others, the "Easy Does It
- Plain language and Clear Verbal Communication Training Manual" to
which Lisa refers. Page 47 gives the step by step formula on "How to
Use the S.M.O.G. (Simple Measure of Gobbledegook) Formula". You can
order this directly at our health resource centre: hrc/cds@cpha.ca.

However, I am taking the liberty of faxing you (at: 541-737-0999) an
order form for your convenience. I have enclosed, for your
information, a list of our services and of our clients.

I am quite sure this will of assistance to you.
Please let us know if we may be of further service to you.

Regards,
Annette Boult (see below)
