Dear Friends:  One aspect of sensitizing the health provider network to all 
cultures and literacy levels might include the availability of health 
services from bi-lingual health care providers.  Here in South Carolina, 
leaders of a variety of organizations have formed the SC Hispanic Health 
Coalition.  A survey has been commissioned through a professional marketing 
research team to determine if the state has a potential supply of caregivers 
who are not able to find jobs in the health care field because of low English 
literacy. The purpose of this survey is to help identify those individuals 
who are medical professionals from Latin America but cannot practice their 
profession here in South Carolina due to a variety of reasons. 

The purpose of this survey is to assess whether the shortage of nurses and 
medical doctors in South Carolina could be alleviated by tapping into the 
community of immigrant doctors and nurses currently residing in South 
Carolina but barred from practicing in their field.
