A number of health literacy advocates in the US and Canada have filled out a simple form on the Health Literacy Month web site www.healthliteracymonth.com, sharing what you are doing this year to raise awareness about the need for understandable health information. This map is a way to see the impact of our collective voice. Each of us can also use the map as a tool to contact others and learn from their experiences. You don't need an elaborate project or conference to get on the map - simply let us know whatever steps you are taking to raise awareness about health literacy. It is your choice whether or not to provide contact information. As of a few days ago, health literacy advocates have told us about events in Arizona, California, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and West Virginia as well as in British Columbia, Montreal, and Toronto. My sense is that many other individuals and organizations are also spreading the word about health literacy. Let's see how much of the map we can fill in.
