Carol Parks Bani ===================================== TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITIONS IN HEALTH BEHAVIOR AND HEALTH EDUCATION POSITIONS: One or more tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor positions in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education, School of Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW: The Department of Health Behavior and Health Education has graduate programs leading to MPH, DrPH and PhD degrees. Students are prepared for both public health research and practice careers. The Department has an active research program, including work with specific populations (minority, rural, adolescents, women, and older persons), major disease problems (STDs and HIV/AIDS, cancer, cardiovascular disease, arthritis), major health promotion settings (school health, communities, church, worksite), and other behavioral studies (alcohol and drug abuse prevention, tobacco control, violence and injury prevention). The Department is committed to research, teaching, and service programs that reach underserved communities in both the US and internationally. RESPONSIBILITIES: We are seeking one or more faculty members who will contribute to the department’s overall research, teaching, and service programs. This search is not limited to specific areas of research. However, emphasis in health behavior and health education intervention and/or policy relevant research, particularly in the area of health communication, is preferred. Responsibilities will include: establishing and/or contributing to a funded research program; teaching graduate level courses; and participating in the Department’s service programs. QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate in health behavior and health education, or in a behavioral, social science, or policy-relevant discipline; post-doctoral training for assistant professor is preferred; ability to establish and/or collaborate in multidisciplinary funded research programs essential; a commitment to graduate level teaching; and a clear promise of scholarly contribution to health behavior and health education research and service.
